Hold a key to get in 1 key

Illustrative demo, not live market data. A key gets more expensive as more people buy in, and cheaper as they leave.

How it works

Three steps, and the third one never really ends.

1

Sign in with X

Your profile picture and handle come with you. A Hood opens in your name straight away, and your founding access is free. The first paid key starts at $5.

2

People buy your key

Each key costs a little more than the last. You take 5% of every buy and sale in your own key. Creator fees accrue until you withdraw them.

3

They hang in your Hood

Holding a key is the ticket in. Sell the last one and the room closes behind you, so the people in there are the people who chose to be.

The curve never prices a key below $5.

Most of these markets let a key fall to nothing, so the people who showed up early are the ones who get hurt worst.

Hang puts a floor under it. The price climbs as people buy in and slides back as they leave, but the curve cannot price a key below $5. A sale at the $5 gross floor returns $4.50 after Hang's 10% sell fee. Gas is paid separately.

It cuts the other way too. The first paid key in anyone's Hood costs $5 and every paid key after it costs more. Founding access is the free exception.

A SELL-OFF, KEY BY KEY The last curve quote is still $5

Questions

What actually is a Hood?

A group chat that belongs to one creator. Anyone holding one of their keys can read it and post in it. Sell your last key and you lose access, so every member other than the creator has chosen to hold a paid key.

How is a key priced?

By a curve, not by us. The first paid key costs $5. Each one after that costs slightly more than the last, and selling moves the price back down the same way. Founding access is free. Nobody sets a price and nobody can change it by hand.

Can I lose money?

Yes. A key is only worth what the curve will pay for it. Hang charges 10% on each buy and another 10% on each sale, so buying and immediately selling puts you behind. If the people who bought after you sell out, the price comes back down toward the floor.

The $5 floor is the curve's gross price, not a guaranteed $5 redemption. Buy and sell fees, ETH purchase swap costs, and gas reduce your return. The floor limits how far the curve can fall. It does not mean you cannot lose.

Can somebody open a Hood in my name?

Yes, and people can trade it before you have ever signed in. When you sign in with X, we hand you the Hood exactly as it stands, along with free founding access. Creator fees accrued before you arrived remain available for manual withdrawal after you claim.

You can claim it whenever you want. There is no deadline and no queue.

What does the 10% pay for?

Half of Hang's fee goes to the protocol and half accrues to the person whose key it is for manual withdrawal. Hang charges 10% on each buy and each sale. Gas and swap costs are separate.
